Fatalism is said to be the lot of the weak. This statement has its own truth: when life goes downhill, it’s easier to sit back and blame cruel fate for all troubles. In particular, people tend to think that evil rock hangs over them when troubles follow one after another. In such periods, it is not easy to believe that each of us is the smith of our own happiness and that the winner is not the one who never fell, but who was able to rise after the next fall. The Women's Opinion portal has found out what the ratio of fatalists and those who are responsible for their fate is among Russian women.

It turned out that only 8.1% of respondents believe that they can’t change anything in their fate and are only led by her pointing finger. According to them, it is useless to fight against the appointed from above. Another 7% are close to them, believing that they can only have a small effect on their life, but its crucial turns are beyond human control.

There are significantly more women who do not believe in fate and predestination. “I believe that each person is his own master. Everything that happens in the life of each person is only because he himself wanted it or didn’t want it,” they say. This view is shared by 41.2% of respondents.

And the largest number of respondents (43.7%) adhere to the “golden mean”. They believe that they can control their fate, if not completely, then to a very large extent. The obstacles, according to those who choose this option, are:

- “influential uncles we work for”;

- external factors (socio-economic and political);

- a rare and unpredictable "divine" predestination ("brick on the head").

Thus, we see that the vast majority of women in Russia are not prone to fatalism and are ready to take responsibility for everything that happens in their lives. They were not broken by the economic crisis, natural disasters, lack of men and unemployment. Or maybe, according to old Nietzsche, it was these factors that made them stronger?

The survey was conducted among women aged 20 to 45 years from 126 cities of Russia, 3570 people took part in it.
