Proverbs, sayings, signs and beliefs came to us from their ancient times. They were based on the life experience of their ancestors and were passed from mouth to mouth, with temporary changes of storytellers. The goal was to convey to descendants a warning about possible changes. For example, we all know that we don’t greet over the threshold, but why?

Why the Slavs considered the threshold a holy place

Our ancestors - the ancient Slavs considered the threshold a charm, located between two worlds. By the way, few people know that under the threshold the first owner of the house was buried, that is, the person who built it, put his strength and soul into it. It is his spirit that guards the home and the residents. Therefore, not only the Slavs, but also many other peoples, do not greet, transmit nothing or speak through it, believing that this may offend the owner.

By the way: never pour salt on the doorstep, you will not only scare away troubles from yourself, but also all the good things, including financial well-being.

In order for the ritual to work at 100% or at least 50%, you need to know a special whisper or spell.

Your home is your own world, beyond the threshold is another world. To avoid the exchange of energies, one should not make a handshake in this place. Exploring other customs or signs of the Slavs, you can learn a lot of things for us incomprehensible and forgotten.

  • The groom brought the bride into the house in his arms and allowed to stand on his feet only in the center of the house, thereby introducing her to the house and asking permission for her residence.
  • The customs to call the parents of the husband mom and dad, and the daughter-in-law daughter, the brothers and sister daughter-in-law - sister, are still alive. But this is nothing more than a show of recognition of a new resident as a housekeeper - now look now it is ours.
  • Families were mostly large. Leaving for war, the youngest son almost always had to stay at home, in case of the death of his brothers, he was obliged to take their women to his tower, and takes care of them. Today, knowing this custom, many believe that they became his wives in the modern concept, hence many say that the Slavs in ancient times were polygamists. But this is not so, the wives of the brothers were sisters for him by law, so communication between them was forbidden. And the word "wife" is short for "woman."

Another reason not to say hello over the threshold

One more reason is known to refuse talking and shaking hands over the threshold.

In magic and witchcraft, the threshold is considered an almost ideal place for pads and other magic rituals.

In other words, it can be used to both harm the owners and bring health and prosperity to the family.

Therefore, sometimes it’s just dangerous to even step on it.

What to do if the handshake is over the threshold

But still, if there was a knock on you, the door opened, the guest gave you a hand without entering the house - it is worthwhile to reach out and say hello, but, without unclenching the handshake, drag him over the threshold and only then relax your hand.

The fact is that on the palms there is a point that radiates energy.

Shaking hands, people exchange their energy, if this happens in the house, on your territory, a guarantee of harm to you is unlikely.

How our ancestors greeted

This is one of the reasons that in ancient Russia it was customary to make handshakes with wrists. The result was a triple protection system:

  1. Taking a person by the wrist, a pulse is felt, by which you can find out the sincerity of the intentions of the incoming.
  2. Greeting, in this way, embroideries on cuffs of shirts were combined, according to them it was determined what kind or tribe a person was, what he was doing.
  3. It is checked if the incoming armrest knife is behind the sleeve.

According to some sources, the handshake was borrowed from the Jews - this is incorrect information, since they greeted with a nod of the head. But the custom of kissing during the holidays, really came to the Christians from them. In no country in the world is there such a thing that mutual triple kisses would occur among strangers, between men and women.

Interesting: the ancient Slavs never asked their gods for magic or witchcraft. They prayed only for help in business, turning to a certain god.

For example, a brownie was asked for peace and tranquility in the house. His favorite habitats — the stove, the corner with a broom, and the threshold — were always kept clean and tidy.

Kissing someone, we give part of our soul, a mutual kiss is an energy exchange on a spiritual level.

In Russia, especially in the 17-18 centuries, it was customary to kiss three times, not only on holidays, but also at a meeting. Foreigners could not understand what this means. There seems to be enmity, the people are divided, but as the raid takes place, everyone unites and gives a friendly rebuff to the enemy. But it was precisely in the Russian soul, which was and is one in all.

And the church denies the sign

The answer was found in the Bible (1 book of kingdoms; 5 chapter; from 1-6 verse). I will not quote, it says here that the Philistines fought with Israel and won, the reason was recognized as a departure from God at a certain time. Therefore, God allowed the victory of the Philistines. Thus, Israel lost the most valuable that it had - the Ark of the Lord. The ark was brought into the temple of Dogon and presented before it. The next morning, Dogon was found dead, lying face to the ground, his severed head and hands lying on the doorstep.

This became the reason not to step on and step on the threshold of the priestesses and all those entering the temple. Anyone who breaks the ritual does not reckon with Dogon and steps over his head. To abide by this tradition means to bow down to an idol. For this reason, most likely, the church denies this sign and considers it a heresy.

There are plenty of denials and evidence of various signs. Some of us do not abide by them, and many honor and believe.

After all, who knows, maybe today’s reality in the form of the phrase “don’t put your fingers in the socket, will shock”, after several centuries it will be perceived only as an omen and mean something we do not understand, but close to our descendants.

In any case, for sure, this will sound like a warning.
