Each of them differently transfers moisture, but any type of leather jacket sooner or later begins to deform with prolonged contact with water. Genuine leather will begin to stretch and crack, and with an artificial type of product, paint may begin to fall off.

Therefore, until now, most people do not risk washing a leather jacket in an automatic machine, preferring dry cleaning or local cleaning. And, perhaps, they do it right, because after several washes in the machine, the product can be seriously damaged. Therefore, it is better to refrain from washing in the machine things from the skin, especially if the thing is new.

If you wear a leather thing for a long time, then, if you follow certain rules, you can wash the jacket in the machine.

Is it possible to wash a leather jacket in a washing machine: preparation and washing process

If you still decide to wash the leather jacket in the machine, first you need to properly prepare it.

Laundry Detergent

To wash the jacket, you need all 2 tbsp. l ordinary powder, it is not recommended to use it anymore, as it can leave white spots on things. However, when choosing a product, it is better to take a special detergent for such things, which can be purchased at the store. You also need to use a color fixer so that the item does not lose color.

Program for washing

For washing leather products, it is imperative to establish a delicate regime and use cold water, since high temperatures can easily deform the skin. Choose a mode such that the operating time is as short as possible.

Upon completion of the preparatory washing procedures, you need to take the jacket itself, fasten it with all the possible fasteners and a zipper and turn inside out. This will protect the delicate leather surface from abrasion with the drum and subsequent damage.

Since the skin is a rather delicate material, you need to add a couple of soft things (t-shirts, trousers, socks) with the same color as the jacket itself to the wash.

Attention! In no case do not add several leather products to the wash at once, the consequences can be disastrous.

Drying

At the end of the wash, you need to remove the item from the drum and stretch the sleeves. If the thing is not very complex in its design, then after 10-15 minutes it will already dry on the dryer. After that we take out a jacket, we turn out and straighten. If it has not completely dried out, the procedure must be repeated by first turning it around.

If there are decor elements on the product, then you need to dry it on a horizontal plane, placing a towel under it. So that the skin does not deform, you do not need to twist and squeeze it, as well as leave it near a heater or other heating devices. Let it dry longer, but it will keep its shape better. You can finish the jacket on a trempel with soft shoulders.

Ironing

After the leather product dries, it should be ironed from the inside out at minimum temperatures. Even if everything went well, and the thing has not lost in quality, in any case it is better to wipe it regularly with a sponge with soapy water than to regularly wash it.

Is it possible to wash a leather jacket in a washing machine: how to eliminate stains and dirt from the skin

To wash a leather product in an automatic machine is a dangerous event, you risk spoiling and deforming the thing. A much safer option is local cleansing. This can be done quickly and without consequences. It is not recommended to rinse the jacket entirely in water, if possible, it is better to do without it. Remember - the less you wash your leather jacket, the longer it will last for you.

1. Scuffs may occur even if you carry the product carefully. You can get rid of small scuffs, creases and cracks using a solution of glycerin, which is sold in any pharmacy. Take a cotton swab, moisten it and wipe the damaged area, this will provide a good visual effect. Instead of glycerin, you can also use a fresh orange peel, but only for things with a black or dark brown color.

2. If there are small contaminants on the jacket (dust, raindrops, chalk, dirty scuffs), then using a damp cloth to get rid of them is very simple. You need to do this at least a couple of times a month. Using wet wipes is not recommended, since they contain alcohol, which tends to degrease the skin, which ultimately makes the surface of the product dull.

3. Fat stains can be cleaned without detergent for dishes. Wet the rag in the detergent and wipe the stain thoroughly. If the stain is old, instead of washing you can use the "White Spirit" or a soapy composition with ammonia. A more risky option is pure alcohol or acetone (you can buy it at any hardware store). We moisten a cotton swab in the solution and surface treat the stain. Before using any of the products in a prominent place on the jacket, it is better to test it on any inconspicuous area first. If a paint stain remains on the product, it can be removed using an acetone-free varnish remover. We wet the sponge in the liquid and from the edge to the middle we do the treatment of the contaminated area. The people also often use ordinary vegetable oil, the principle of use is the same. But this method has its own drawback - it is also fatty, and then it will also need to be disposed of.

If you love your leather jacket, it is better to do without washing in the machine, and do a local cleaning, this will save your favorite thing for as long as possible.
